Many species of Ectoedemia are similar. A good way of separating them is to examine the type of leaf-mine in the foodplant.

Lifestage data
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a contorted
gallery which then goes into a blotch. Pupa formed in a cocoon beneath
the soil. (Mines of some species are similar, care is required with
